Bulls' Bobby Portis: Modest showing in second straight start

Portis produced seven points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist over 19 minutes in Saturday's 117-99 win over the Cavaliers.

Analysis:

The second-year big man drew his second straight start at the four, but was once again outpaced in minutes by Nikola Mirotic. Portis' playing time has been under 20 minutes in the first two games since the trade of former starting power forward Taj Gibson to Oklahoma City, so his presence on the first unit is clearly no guarantee of a notable uptick in opportunity for the time being. However, the former Razorback has certainly proven capable of strong returns in both scoring and rebounding in the past, so he remains a prudent grab off the wire at this stage of the season.
