Mavericks' Yogi Ferrell: Quiet in start

Ferrell started at point guard and produced five points (2-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal across 30 minutes in Friday's 97-84 loss to the Timberwolves.

Analysis:

While this is an unexciting line for Ferrell, his fantasy stock is nonetheless on the upswing after he returned to a starting role following the Mavs' waiving of Deron Williams on Thursday. The team seems to have faith in Ferrell in light of his strong production, but he could end up surrendering some playing time and potentially even lose his spot on the top unit once J.J. Barea (calf) returns, perhaps as soon as next week. Devin Harris is also in the mix for playing time at point guard, but it appears coach Rick Carilsle is most comfortable using the veteran in a 15-to-20-minute role off the bench.
