76ers' Ben Simmons: Ruled out for rest of season
Simmons (foot) was ruled out Friday for the rest of the season, Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated reports.
Analysis:
A CT scan Thursday revealed that there was still a fracture in Simmons' foot, and the lack of healing will force Simmons to sit out the remainder of what would have been his rookie season. The first overall pick in 2016's draft was expected to see majority of his time at point guard upon returning to the rotation, but with his absence now confirmed, T.J. McConnell and Sergio Rodriguez will continue to shoulder the load at the position down the final stretch of the season. The team is hopeful that Simmons will be able to make an appearance on the summer league team this year. .
