Report: Knicks owner gave $300K to Trump campaign fundraiser

USA Today Sports

If James Dolan wasn't already in hot water with the NBA's top stars, the latest headline involving the New York Knicks owner should do the trick.

Citing public records, the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy reports that Dolan donated $300,000 to a fundraising committee called "TrumpVictory" less than two months before the Nov. 8 presidential election.

In addition to two separate donations of $250,000 and $50,000 to "TrumpVictory," Bondy reports that the Cablevision CEO and MSG Chairman donated the maximum pledge of $2,700 to Trump's actual campaign.

Since Trump's election night victory and inauguration, power-broking stars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Carmelo Anthony have expressed their dismay with the new president, while big name coaches like Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr, and Stan Van Gundy have the ripped the commander-in-chief.

Dolan has drawn plenty of ire of his own lately, after he had Madison Square Garden security forcefully remove Knicks legend Charles Oakley from the arena earlier this month. That led to a number of NBA stars coming to Oakley's defense in the days that followed, most notably Golden State Warriors All-Star Draymond Green, who said Dolan had a "slave-owner mentality" in his treatment of Oakley.
