Isaiah's emojis show time running out on Celtics as deadline passes

Isaiah Thomas denied that his Monday night eyes emoji tweet had anything to do with the trade deadline, but the All-Star point guard will have a hard time downplaying his latest Twitter escapades.

As Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline came and went with Thomas' Celtics once again sitting on their treasure trove of assets, Isaiah tweeted out a couple of emojis that insinuated time was running out.

The watch emoji could've been brushed off as an ode to Thomas' wrist-pointing celebration during fourth quarters - which he has owned this season - but the hourglass leaves no doubt what the undersized star was alluding to.

The Celtics, who own first-round swap rights with the league-worst Nets in June's NBA draft and own Brooklyn's pick outright in 2018, sit second place in the Eastern Conference standings at 37-20.

Still, with the division-rival Toronto Raptors adding Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker within the last nine days, and third-place Washington acquiring a bench upgrade in Bojan Bogdanovic, Thomas and Co. can't be thrilled with their front office's inactivity.
