Thunder's Taj Gibson: Traded to Oklahoma City

Gibson was traded to Oklahoma City on Thursday, Royce Young of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Gibson will leave the only team for which he's played since entering the NBA and will be joined in Oklahoma City by Doug McDermott. In exchange, the Thunder will send back Cameron Payne, Anthony Morrow and Joffrey Lauvergne. The 31-year-old Gibson, a staple in the Chicago frontcourt for several years, is averaging 11.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per game this season, starting all 55 games in which he's appeared. It's unclear if he'll unseat rookie Domantas Sabonis in the Thunder's starting five, but even if he doesn't, Gibson would likely see significant minutes as the first big man off the bench. At this point, it's unclear if the veteran will receive team clearance in time to take the floor Friday against the Lakers.
