The Houston Rockets have traded swingman K.J. McDaniels to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations, the teams announced Thursday.

Trading the 24-year-old frees up approximately $3 million for the Rockets to use in the buyout market. McDaniels is owed $3.3 million this season, and has a $3.4 million team option in 2017-18.

The Clemson product is averaging 2.8 points and one rebound on 45.6 percent shooting. McDaniels has struggled to find time in the Rockets' lineup since being acquired in 2015, playing just 76 games with the franchise.

Brooklyn's roster already stands at 15 players, meaning they'll need to make a subsequent move to create room for McDaniels.
