Charles Oakley plans to attend Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks at Quicken Loans Arena, he told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

A native of Cleveland, Oakley is a close friend of LeBron James, who showed support for the Knicks legend after he was forcibly removed from Madison Square Garden earlier in February and banned from the venue. That ban was later rescinded after NBA commissioner Adam Silver organized a meeting between the 53-year-old and Knicks owner James Dolan.

Oakley told reporters last week that he wanted New York to apologize to its fans, and that he had no plans to return to MSG for the time being.

"They tried to tell me, 'Let's get some understanding around this,'" Oakley told The Undefeated's Mike Wise. "I told them in the meeting, 'My understanding is, it might be three, four, five years before I come to a conclusion how I feel about going back in the Garden.'"
