Mavericks' Nerlens Noel: Traded to Mavs

Noel was traded from the 76ers to the Mavericks on Thursday in exchange for Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut and a protected 2017 first-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

The 76ers were eager to move one of Noel and Jahlil Okafor prior to the deadline, and they've finally found a deal to help alleviate their logjam at center. Noel has proven to be an effective rebounder and rim protector when given the requisite minutes, and he should immediately step into a significant role with the Mavericks, who have been using Dirk Nowitzki as a small-ball center of late. Noel is averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting a career-best 61.1 percent from the floor on the season, but he should see a significant uptick in his 19.4 minutes per game now that he faces less competition for playing time at center in his new locale. The 22-year-old has a $5.8 million qualifying offer for next season, and considering the Mavericks gave up a first-round pick in the deal, the team likely views Noel as part of their long-term core.
