Report: Bulls trying to trade Mirotic in package for 76ers' Okafor

The Chicago Bulls may be on a mission to bring Jahlil Okafor home.

The team is trying to swing a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire the sophomore big man while giving up forward Nikola Mirotic, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Okafor, 21, is averaging 15 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.2 dimes, and 1.1 blocks over two campaigns in the City of Brotherly Love. Although he's not much of a force at the defensive end, he can help provide a boost to Chicago's below-average offense with his reliable scoring touch in the low post. Okafor shoots over 70 percent within three feet of the rim.

The former third overall pick has been on the trading block for some time as a result of Philly's frontcourt logjam. Rookie center Joel Embiid has emerged as an up-and-coming star, while the club seems to prefer Nerlens Noel and his elite defensive upside, rendering Okafor the odd man out.

The Sixers held Okafor out of a few games before the All-Star break because a trade was reportedly imminent. It's believed the Portland Trail Blazers nearly landed the Chicago native, while the Indiana Pacers are rumored to still be in the mix for him.

Meanwhile, Mirotic is having a down year in the Windy City. The 26-year-old's averaging a career-low nine points on 38 percent shooting from the field and a shade under 30 percent from long range.
