Rockets' Lou Williams: Unlikely to make team debut Thursday

Williams is unlikely to make his Rockets debut Thursday against the Pelicans, ESPN.com's Calvin Watkins reports.

Analysis:

The Rockets acquired Williams from the Lakers late Tuesday in exchange for Corey Brewer and an unprotected 2017 first-round pick, but due to the timing of physical with his new team, it doesn't look like coach Mike D'Antoni is planning on having the veteran guard at his disposal right away. Look for Williams to instead make his Rockets debut against the Timberwolves on Saturday, when he's expected to combine with sixth man Eric Gordon to form a potent offensive backcourt duo on the second unit. With 18.6 points and 17.2 points per game, respectively, Williams and Gordon are the top two bench scorers in the NBA this season.
