Report: Pelicans seeking trade partner for Terrence Jones

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The New Orleans Pelicans aren't done making moves.

After acquiring All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins on Sunday, the Pelicans are seeking a trade partner for Terrence Jones, league sources tell ESPN's Chris Haynes. The potential move is based on a mutual decision by both New Orleans and Jones' camp.

While he's in the midst of a solid season, Jones would likely see a large decrease in his minutes should he stay in New Orleans, with Cousins expected to see plenty of action in the Pelicans' frontcourt.

Jones is set to become an unrestricted this summer, and would presumably prefer to make more than the meager one-year, $1.5-million deal he signed in 2016.

With the deadline set for Thursday, New Orleans will have just a few days to find a trade partner for the 25-year-old.

Jones is averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and one block on 47.3 percent shooting this season.
