Report: Nets pick has entered conversation on Celtics-Pacers George talks

The Boston Celtics have included the 2017 first-round draft pick - which they have the right swap from the Brooklyn Nets - in talks regarding the Indiana Pacers' Paul George, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Reports earlier in the day suggested that the Pacers wouldn't consider any George deal to the Celtics unless that pick - quite possibly the No. 1 selection overall - was included. Any such trade would clearly signal a rebuild by the Pacers.

According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, Boston has also made it known to other teams that the pick is in play. The Celtics are believed to have interest in Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls as well.

The Celtics have seemingly been hesitant to include the prized pick in a deal, although obtaining George would fit the bill of a superstar player landing in Boston. The issue from the Celtics' standpoint with George is he can opt out of his contract after next season, meaning trying to sign him to a long-term extension first would be optimal.
