Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Reels off third straight double-double

Thompson recorded 12 points (6-11 FG), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 37 minutes in a 113-104 win over the Pacers on Wednesday.

Analysis:

Thompson had already been enjoying his best stretch of production on the season during the first two weeks of February, but the announcement Tuesday that Kevin Love (knee) would require arthroscopic surgery that would likely sideline him six weeks may only further enhance Thompson's outlook. Though he starts at power forward, Love had been serving as the Cavs' primary center when Thompson was resting on the bench, but the lack of existing depth at the position will likely result in coach Tyronn Lue leaning more heavily on the 25-year-old. Thompson has collected double-doubles in both of the Cavs' games without Love so far and is averaging 13.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35.9 minutes per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from the free-throw line in February. In the unlikely event that he's still on the waiver wire in shallow formats, Thompson is worth adding immediately.
