Heat's Okaro White: Assigned to D-League

White was assigned to the D-League's Sioux Falls Skyforce on Wednesday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

White didn't see the floor in Wednesday's 117-109 win over the Rockets with coach Erik Spoelstra trotting out a nine-man rotation, but the undrafted rookie's assignment to the D-League after the game shouldn't be viewed as a demotion. Instead, White is simply heading back to the D-League to take part in the league's All-Star Game on Saturday, an honor he earned after averaging 18.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 three-pointers and 1.1 steals in 23 games with the Skyforce prior to signing with the Heat in mid-January. The forward is locked into a roster spot the rest of the season after inking a two-year deal with the club following the expiration of his second 10-day contract. Expect him to rejoin the Heat next week when the team reconvenes for practice.
