Knicks, Lakers top list of NBA's most valuable franchises

USA Today Sports

It pays to be mediocre when it comes to the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, who, according to Forbes.com, are the two most valuable franchises in the NBA today.

The teams have seen a one-year value jump of 10 and 11 percent, respectively. That's not nearly as impressive as the Golden State Warriors, though, whose value skyrocketed by 37 percent, surely helped by the 73-win campaign in 2015-16, as well as the addition of former MVP Kevin Durant.

Rounding out the top five are the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics, two of only six teams worth $2 billion or more.
