Lakers' Lou Williams: Scores 29 in loss

Williams posted 29 points (10-18 FG, 4-11 3pt, 5-5 FT), five assists, two steals, a rebound and a block over 24 minutes in Tuesday's 97-96 loss to the Kings.

Analysis:

Arguably the NBA's most prolific sixth man, Williams outpaced all of the starters and led the Lakers in scoring. Almost one-third of the Lakers' total output came from him in a messy, low-scoring matchup that ended with Williams missing an open 3-point shot at the buzzer to give the Kings the victory. The Lakers are struggling to build a cohesive lineup, and it's confounding that their leading scorer is someone off the bench. Williams is averaging 18.4 points per game this season, with D"Angelo Russell and Nick Young trailing with 14.2 and 14.0 points per game respectively. While some of the starters will pop with an occasional standout game, Williams is the only Laker who provides consistent production. The Lakers face the Suns on Wednesday and with Phoenix ranking 22nd in defense versus shooting guards this season, Williams is primed for another big game.
