Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Refutes report he'll be back in three weeks
Smith posted Monday on his personal Twitter account that a report suggesting that he could be back on the court in three weeks aren't accurate. "Please don't believe the hype. Still a ways to go," Smith posted.
Analysis:
Citing league sources, Chris Haynes and Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reported earlier Monday that Smith was progressing well from a fractured right thumb suffered in late December and would be back on the court by next month, but the shooting guard's own comments suggest that's not a given. Until the Cavaliers provide a formal update on Smith's recovery timeline, it's expected that he'll still be in line for the initial 12-to-14-week projection that the team handed down in December. That would put Smith on track to get back on the court in late March or early April.
