Report: Magic fielding calls from multiple teams on Ibaka

Erik Williams / USA TODAY Sports

The Orlando Magic appear prepared to deal Serge Ibaka just a few months after acquiring him.

With hope fading that they'll be able to retain him when he hits unrestricted free agency this summer, the Magic are fielding calls from a handful of teams on the 27-year-old power forward, sources have told ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat are among the teams to have expressed interest in Ibaka, according to Stein. The Houston Rockets were also reported to be in the mix earlier this week.

The Magic dealt Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova, and No. 11 pick Domantas Sabonis to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Ibaka this past summer. It's safe to say they won't be recouping equivalent value now that he's a half-season from free agency, having looked like a shadow of the rim-protecting help defender he was in his Thunder heyday.

He is, however, enjoying one of his better offensive seasons, averaging a career-best 15.1 points per game and shooting a career-high 38.5 percent from 3-point range on a career-high 3.9 attempts per game. He's also averaging 6.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, with a 17.3 PER. On balance, the Magic have been better with Ibaka on the floor, but worse at the defensive end.

His fit in Orlando has been predictably awkward in a crowded frontcourt alongside the likes of Bismack Biyombo, Nikola Vucevic, and Aaron Gordon. The pairing with Biyombo has been particularly catastrophic, as the Magic have been outscored by 9.5 points per 100 possessions, with a ghastly 112.1 defensive rating, in the 561 minutes the two have played together.
