Wade unfazed by All-Star snub: 'Now it's the next generation's turn'

USA Today Sports

For the first time since his rookie campaign back in 2003-04, Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade will not be a member of the Eastern Conference All-Star team when the midseason exhibition takes place on Feb. 19 in New Orleans.

Having been named to the squad on 12 previous occasions, the now 35-year-old shooting guard isn't sweating the fact that lucky No. 13 won't be coming this season, which he told one of his Twitter followers during a Q-and-A session on Saturday.

Wade finished second in backcourt balloting among fans (979,566 votes) behind Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but didn't receive similar love from players and members of the media, ranking sixth with both groups.

The voting process was broken down this year to include the league's talent and select media personalities, who each got 25 percent of the total vote. Fans still had their voices heard, but they only accounted for half of the votes.

Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz), DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers), Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) will all be making their All-Star debuts at the Smoothie King Center.

Wade is currently averaging 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists with a player efficiency rating of 19.8 for the 26-28 Bulls.
