Saints, Pelicans join tornado relief efforts

The New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans announced on Wednesday their participation in tornado relief efforts.

On Tuesday, a reported eight tornadoes wreaked havoc in multiple southern states, leaving considerable damage in Louisiana. It prompted Gov. John Bel Edwards to declare a state of emergency, with New Orleans East among the areas hit the hardest.

An estimated 60 homes were damaged but no deaths have been reported.

The Saints and Pelicans are holding relief drives and have partnered with the United Way, American Red Cross, and Second Harvest Food Bank to offer aid. They are also collecting non-perishable food items and other necessary items at the teams' training facilities.
