The Minnesota Timberwolves are signing swingman Lance Stephenson to a 10-day contract, league sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The move comes just days after shooting guard Zach LaVine was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Stephenson appeared in six games for the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this season, averaging 9.7 points, 4.8 assists, and three rebounds on 47.3 percent shooting. He was later waived after suffering a groin injury that required surgery.

The 26-year-old should see his fair share of playing time with Minnesota, which had little depth at shooting guard behind LaVine.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. native has already played with five different teams throughout his young NBA career, averaging 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds over 346 games.

Before agreeing with Minnesota, Stephenson had also generated interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who worked him out along with several other guards last week.
