Report: Mavericks, Yogi Ferrell agree to 2-year deal

Steve Dykes / USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a two-year deal with point guard Yogi Ferrell, league sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Ferrell will officially sign the deal on Tuesday, when his 10-day contract expires.

The move comes just one day after he erupted for one of the most unexpected performances of the season, dropping nine 3-pointers and tallying 32 points in the Mavericks' win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

The 23-year-old guard has given Dallas' roster a huge boost since signing the 10-day contract last week, averaging 17.8 points, five assists, three boards, and 1.8 steals in four games - all wins.

With J.J. Barea currently out with a calf injury, Ferrell has firmly asserted himself as the Mavericks' backup point guard, and has helped keep their playoff hopes alive with his strong play.
