The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for ways to upgrade their roster, and they may need to shed some dead weight in order to do so.

As they explore the 10-day market for backup point guards that might fill their one vacant roster spot, the Cavs are also looking ahead to the buyout market that may materialize ahead of the March 1 playoff-eligibility waiver deadline.

Hoping to have another roster spot open to potentially sign a waived or bought-out player before that cutoff date, Cleveland plans to "aggressively pursue" a trade destination for center Chris Andersen, a source told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Andersen is currently taking up a roster spot despite being done for the season with a torn ACL. His minimum contract expires at season's end, so the Cavaliers would somehow have to make it worth another team's while to take him on. If they can't find a taker, they can always buy him out themselves.
