DeAndre Jordan invited to participate in dunk contest

USA Today Sports

DeAndre Jordan could be very busy during All-Star weekend.

The Los Angeles Clippers big man is mulling over whether or not he'll compete for the dunk crown after the NBA asked him to take part in the Slam Dunk contest, Dan Woike of the O.C. Register reports.

Jordan, who was selected by coaches to make his first All-Star nod, joked he'll take part in the dunk fest if he can also get into another All-Star Saturday Night event next month in the Big Easy.

"I'm trying to negotiate something ... Like, if I do the dunk contest, then they got to let me do the 3-point competition," he told Rowan Kavner or Clippers.com.

It's highly unlikely he'll be selected for the 3-point shootout, as he's 1-for-10 from beyond the arc over his nine NBA seasons. Lob City's athletic, high-flying thrower down of alley oops is no doubt better suited for the dunking spectacle.

Zach LaVine won last year (and the year before) in one of the best dunk contests of all time, edging out Aaron Gordon. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard won't return for a three-peat, while Air Gordon will try again in a quest for redemption.

Boston Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown and San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Jonathon Simmons have also received invitations to the dunk-off.
