Lowry calls out 'bullsh--' travel ban implemented by Trump

Count Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry among those in the NBA family who are unhappy with President Donald Trump's travel ban.

Lowry was firm in his opposition towards the ban imposed by Trump on citizens of seven primarily Muslim nations, when speaking to reporters during shootaround Monday.

"I think it's bullshit. I think it's absolute bullshit. Our country is the home of the free. For (the ban) to happen, I think it's bullshit. I'm not getting into it too deeply, but personally I think it's bullshit," Lowry said.

"I bleed red, white, and blue. I was born and raised there. I have always been taught to treat everyone the same. It’s a difficult time for my country right now and it’s sad," Lowry added according to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star.

Raptors president Masai Ujiri was similarly baffled by the developments south of the border.

"I think it's just ridiculous what's going on out there ... I just don't get it. This is mind-boggling," Ujiri said, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg.

"I'm a prime example of what opportunity is. Canada gave me opportunity. America gave me opportunity. That's what this world is about," he added.

Lowry and Ujiri joined Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, along with Brooklyn Nets forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as those in the NBA community vocally in opposition of the ban.

Protests have broken out in airports across the United States since Trump signed the ban into effect through an executive order last Friday. Opponents of the statue argue that the ban violates the fifth amendment right to due process, while the preference of Christians over Muslims in Trump's order violates the first amendment right to freedom of religion.
