Report: Raptors have pursued Wilson Chandler

USA Today Sports

In their continued quest to upgrade the team's wing depth, the Toronto Raptors have reportedly pursued Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler ahead of this afternoon's trade deadline, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Raptors have also been linked to fellow Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari and Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker in recent weeks, but unlike those two likely free agents (Gallinari has a player option 2017-18), Chandler is locked into a team-friendly contract through 2019.

The 29-year-old, who's averaging a career-high 15.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on an effective field-goal percentage of 50.8, will earn a combined $24.8 million over the next two years after earning $11.2 million this season.

Chandler has spent the last six years with the Nuggets after being shipped from New York to Denver in the Carmelo Anthony trade that preceded the 2011 deadline.

The Raptors have minutes to spare on the wing - specifically behind DeMarre Carroll at the small forward position - after including Terrence Ross in the deal that netted Toronto Serge Ibaka.
