Here is a look at the Squad Up daily NBA fantasy picture for Tuesday, Jan. 24:

Dynamic Duos

  • PG Isaiah Thomas (80K) & C Al Horford (70K), Celtics (at Wizards): The Wizards may get some home cooking, but the Celtics are fresh and Thomas has scored at least 35 points in five of his last seven games. His assists upside coming to fruition would help if he targets Horford, who is usually close to double-double territory.
  • SG Austin Rivers (52K) & C DeAndre Jordan (82K), Clippers (at 76ers): Without C Joel Embiid, the 76ers are 2-10 and allow 106.5 points per game. Opponents shoot better from all areas and their own offense stagnates. Without Embiid, Jordan should have a clearer path to success and Rivers could easily benefit from 3-point range.
  • SF Andrew Wiggins (63K) & C Karl-Anthony Towns (88K), Timberwolves (at Suns): The Suns remain an inefficient team on defense while playing at a top-3 pace. This should open up the door for the Timberwolves to have big nights from their big names. Towns is clockwork, continuing to improve while Wiggins is a bit more volatile, but he hasn't seen fewer than 35 minutes in a game since December.

Bargain Plays

  • PG Kris Dunn (25K), Timberwolves (at Suns): Dunn is not a lock to get a ton of minutes because starter Ricky Rubio should be back. Rubio has dealt with a hip problem of late, so Dunn could see another boost in playing time. He was close to a triple-double Sunday, playing a career-high 34 minutes.
  • SF Joe Johnson (28K), Jazz (at Nuggets): Johnson played only 16 minutes Monday night in a tight loss against the Thunder. The Nuggets are not much of a defensive force, and with Johnson rested relative to his teammates, it's conceivable he's in line for a minutes boost.
  • SG Jamal Murray (25K), Nuggets (vs. Jazz): With PG Emmanuel Mudiay nursing a back injury, Murray could again see vaunted minutes with the second unit. The Jazz feature one of the stingiest defenses in the NBA, but are playing for the second time in two nights. Murray has scoring upside with the ability to pepper in secondary counting stats, especially if he plays 20-plus minutes.

Top Fades

  • SG Bradley Beal (66K), Wizards (vs. Celtics): Beal's inconsistency of late combined with him playing for the second night in a row makes him unappealing almost by default. His overall averages in scoring, assists, and 3-pointers remain up for the season, so his upside is in tact, but his last four games have not been encouraging.
  • SF Robert Covington (51K), 76ers (vs. Clippers): While someone will have to pick up the slack with Embiid out, the Sixers are too terrible without their young big to be worth speculating about in daily fantasy. Covington isn't woefully expensive, but his shooting has been poor and he rarely touches his upside in Embiid's absence.
  • PF David Lee (61K), Spurs (at Raptors): There's the salary spike we were waiting for! Lee could still be had at the minimum price Monday, and he performed well enough to return value. With the price tag nearly tripling, he's not worth targeting due to a low ceiling due to the Spurs' carousel of usage.

Contrarian Options

  • C Rudy Gobert (72K), Jazz (at Nuggets): It has been diminishing results since Gobert exploded against the Mavericks for a 27 and 25 line Friday. This marks the fourth game in five nights for the weary Jazz, but despite fatigue, Gobert should match up well against the Nuggets' frontcourt. While another line like Friday's can't be expected, a double-double is almost always in the cards.
  • SF Kawhi Leonard (86K), Spurs (at Raptors): He was hurt and now he (maybe) isn't. Leonard has been the only Spurs player worth consistent consideration in daily fantasy this season as he has become an excellent scorer in addition to his already sterling defense. He has no real holes in his game, which translates well to 50-50s.
  • PG Kyle Lowry (72K), Raptors (at Spurs): The Raptors' recent tailspin has not been defined by a slumping Lowry, who has been his normally productive self, averaging between 34 and 40 minutes in the three-game losing streak. With teammate SG DeMar DeRozan sidelined, Lowry can be expected to put up big numbers even against the vaunted Spurs D.
