Watch: Westbrook laughs off question about how to contain Gobert

USA Today Sports

It's safe to say Russell Westbrook hasn't caught many Utah Jazz games on his days off this season.

Prior to his Oklahoma City Thunder taking on the Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena Monday night in Salt Lake City, Westbrook was asked how the Oklahoma City Thunder would go about containing center Rudy Gobert.

Rather than give a sensible answer, Westbrook began chuckling, called the question "funny," and walked away.

"The Stifle Tower" has been a menace defensively for the 29-16 Jazz in his 45 appearances, and may very well be the league's top defensive player through the midway point of the season. Despite averaging 12.9 points on 66.9 percent shooting, Gobert's offense goes rather unnoticed, as it's limited mostly to whatever he can get around the rim.

Perhaps Westbrook found it amusing that the Thunder would ever have to make Gobert a priority on that end of the floor. If the question was how Oklahoma City would deal with the 7-foot-1 center's presence under the basket, though, maybe his reaction would have been entirely different.
