Wade trolls Isola for spelling name wrong, acknowledges ref gaffe

USA Today Sports

The unorthodox spelling of Dwyane Wade's first name can catch even the most seasoned basketball writers off guard, even though he's been a high-profile NBA talent for 14 seasons.

Following the controversial finish to Saturday's Chicago Bulls-Sacramento Kings game at United Center, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News tweeted about how he felt Wade's reputation ultimately saved him late in the fourth quarter when he missed a wide-open dunk to put his team up by two. While there appeared to be very little contact from Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, a foul was called to send Wade to the charity stripe.

Isola is entitled to his opinion, although Wade wishes that if he puts him on blast like that in the future, that Isola at least remember to put the "y" before the "a" in Dwyane.

Wade's reference to eating and being eaten by bears appears to be in regards to officiating, and that in Chicago's 102-99 victory, the biggest call of the night just happened to go in his favor, whether it was correct or not.

The 35-year-old guard finished with a team-high 30 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and four rejections in 35 minutes as Chicago improved to 22-23 on the season.
