Pistons' Van Gundy told Jackson he's not being traded for Rubio

Reggie Jackson isn't going to Minnesota.

With the trade deadline about a month away, the rumor mill is churning, and a recent report indicates the Detroit Pistons are working toward a deal that would send Jackson to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ricky Rubio.

But Pistons president and head coach Stan Van Gundy has informed his starting point guard that those rumblings are untrue.

"I normally don't even address it (with players), because most of these guys know," the coach told Rod Beard of The Detroit News on Saturday. "Reggie's agent had called (GM Jeff Bower on Friday) night, so I texted Reggie and said this is the crazy season - and we're not trading you for Ricky Rubio. And that was it.

"The fact that it was out there and concerned his agent enough to call, I addressed it."

Still, that doesn't necessarily mean Jackson is staying put in the Motor City. Bower is fielding offers and is open to making a move if it benefits the 20-24 Pistons, who have been a disappointment this season.

"Everybody's available," Van Gundy said. "I got asked a question the other day: There's a report out there that Reggie's available for the right price. Everyone in the league is available for the right price! It's just for your main guys, the right price is a lot steeper and usually doesn't come around."

Jackson missed the fist 21 games of the campaign due to knee tendinitis and has struggled in his return. All his numbers are down from last year, while the Pistons are 9-14 with him running the point.

Though his trade value is seemingly low, other organizations have still inquired about the 26-year-old. Van Gundy confirmed as much, adding that the same can be said for Detroit's other top half-dozen players, including Andre Drummond, Boban Marjanovic, and Aron Baynes.

The Pistons are only a game back of the eighth playoff seed, so they could be active ahead of the Feb. 23 deadline as they seek help for their playoff push.
