Durant edges LeBron in scoring during Obama administration

Barack Obama served as the President of the United States for the last eight years, with his second term ending Friday.

A noted hoops and Chicago Bulls fan, the nation's 44th president might be surprised to learn that the NBA's top scorer over his presidency was none other than Kevin Durant, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

The Golden State Warriors forward scored 16,053 points since Jan. 20, 2009, winning the scoring title in four of those years as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The man right behind him is LeBron James, who finished just 17 points shy of the distinction. Perhaps more importantly, though, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar captured the most league MVP honors (four) and championships (three) over that period.

There's a good chance James and Durant will meet in the Finals for the second time, as the Warriors and Cavs are both leading their respective conferences and the odds-on favorites to duke it out for the Larry O'Brien Trophy for the third consecutive campaign.

Whoever comes out on top will presumably be welcomed to the White House by President Donald Trump.
