Knicks' Joakim Noah: MRI reveals sprained ankle, will sit out Thursday

Noah underwent an MRI on Thursday confirming that he's dealing with a sprained left ankle, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. He'll be sidelined for at least Thursday's game against the Celtics.

Analysis:

Though Noah will his second straight game, the results of the MRI actually qualifies as good news, as the Knicks were fearing that he might be dealing with a more significant injury. Kyle O'Quinn will likely pick up a second straight start at center Thursday, though Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles) looks on track to return from a four-game absence and could merit consideration for starting duties at that position. Coach Jeff Hornacek intimated earlier this week that he'd like to get a look at Porzingis at center, so if that ends up materializing Thursday or in a subsequent game, Noah's hold on a starting role could be in jeopardy.
