Durant: Chat with Westbrook was just trash talk

NBA fans gasped in unison Wednesday night when former teammates Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were shown speaking to each other during a break in play when the Golden State Warriors hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder at Oracle Arena.

The big question was what the two were chatting about, as it was reported that they still hadn't communicated with each other since Durant's departure from the Thunder to compete in the Bay Area over the summer.

Following Golden State's 21-point victory, Durant revealed that what was said was nothing more then your typical on-court banter.

"That’s all it was," Durant told USA Today Sports' Sam Amick. "You talk a little trash. (There’s) no tension. Nothing went on out there. Both teams played hard. He did what he’s supposed to do. I went out there and did what I was supposed to do. It’s nothing serious, man, nothing that we’re going to take off the court, you know what I’m saying? It ain’t gonna seep into the real world. It’s just basketball talk."

In two Warriors wins over the team that drafted him second overall in 2007, Durant is averaging 39.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and two blocks on 70 percent shooting from the field and 66.7 percent from 3-point range.
