Cavaliers' Korver enjoying life on team that often ended his playoffs

USA Today Sports

Kyle Korver isn't a case of "if you can't beat them, join them," since he was traded away from a franchise in the Atlanta Hawks that he was genuinely happy competing for and wanted to remain a part of. The 35-year-old sharpshooter was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team he knew all too well for all the wrong reasons.

"I've spent so many years on the other teams trying to get past Miami, trying to get past Cleveland and they've put me in depression for like a week or two after every season it feels like for a lot of years, so over that time you respect their game but you know like you really want to beat those guys," Korver told Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor.

"So it's interesting to come on the other side. This locker room is amazing. They are all great guys and they've been incredibly welcoming to me and it's a really tight group. It's been great to see."

LeBron James and the reigning NBA champions caused Korver quite a bit of grief the past two seasons, sending Atlanta packing in back-to-back sweeps. Now that he's a part of what was once considered an enemy camp, the former All-Star is slowly becoming acclimated to his new surroundings, with success hopefully soon to follow.

"It's getting better and better," he added. "It's great to have a practice here in Cleveland. It was a long road trip. The more time we spend together, the better chemistry we're going to have. A lot of what my game is based on chemistry. Getting a good feel for the guys, me getting a feel for them, them getting a feel for me and how I play. Every day gets a little better."

Cleveland is just 1-3 in games Korver has suited up for, including a lopsided 35-point loss to the Golden State Warriors Monday night. He's averaging 8.3 points and shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range in 24 minutes per game as a reserve during that span.
