Celtics' Thomas feels he should start All-Star game

With starters in next month's NBA All-Star Game set to be announced on Thursday night, Isaiah Thomas feels he deserves one of the Eastern Conference's two guard spots.

"I think I should be," the Boston Celtics point guard said, according to GateHouse Media's Scott Souza. "But that's out of my control."

As of the last balloting update on Jan. 12, Thomas was in fourth place for East guards with just over 401,000 votes - behind Kyrie Irving, Dwyane Wade, and DeMar DeRozan. When the starters are announced on Thursday however, the ballots will include the weighted vote of players and select media - something that may well shift the balance of the fan voting.

Thomas made the comment after scoring 39 points in a 117-106 Celtics loss to the New York Knicks. Smoking hot in the month of January, Thomas is averaging 31.3 points per game on 47.1 percent 3-point shooting.
