Clippers' Chris Paul: Undergoes successful thumb surgery Wednesday

Paul underwent successful surgery on his thumb Wednesday and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, Dan Woike of the Orange County Register reports.

Analysis:

Paul suffered a torn ligament in his thumb during Monday's win over the Thunder, and after surgery went according to plan, the his recovery timetable remains unchanged from the Clippers' initial projection. Austin Rivers and Raymond Felton are expected to cover the bulk of the minutes at point guard while Paul is sidelined, with Rivers representing the more intriguing fantasy pickup of the two due his scoring abilities. Sixth man Jamal Crawford also figures to see a bump in minutes and usage while the Clippers await the returns of Paul and Blake Griffin (knee), the latter of whom could be back within the next week or two. More updates should be available for Paul once he's cleared for on-court activity, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect him back until early March.
