Lamar Odom could one day return to the purple and gold.

While nothing is imminent, Luke Walton has shown interest in having his former teammate join the Lakers' coaching staff after Odom reached out to him, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.

"Lamar would be great," said Walton said Tuesday. "Anyone who knows Lamar, when he’s right, he is one of the most likable people they’ve been around. He has a great knowledge of the game and has a great way of communicating with people."

While Odom could eventually land a spot on Walton's staff, it may not come anytime soon. The Lakers are reportedly mindful of Odom's ongoing recovery from a drug overdose. The 37-year-old was found unconscious outside of a Nevada brothel in October 2015.

Walton and Odom spent seven seasons together in Los Angeles from 2004-11, winning back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.
