Bulls' Rajon Rondo: Will be first off bench Tuesday

Rondo will serve as the Bulls' sixth man Tuesday against the Wizards, Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago reports.

Analysis:

Rondo has been out of coach Fred Hoiberg's rotation for the past five games, but will get an opportunity to reclaim a key role Tuesday for a depleted Bulls squad, which will be without Jimmy Butler (illness), Dwyane Wade (rest) and Nikola Mirotic (illness). Michael Carter-Williams and Jerian Grant will make up the starting backcourt Tuesday, but the confirmation of Rondo as the sixth man likely means that he'll rank ahead of Denzel Valentine and Isaiah Canaan in the backcourt pecking order. An impressive performance against the Wizards could be a major first step in allowing Rondo to play a regular role off the bench once Butler, Wade and Mirotic are back.
