Korver makes Cavs debut in loss to Jazz

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Kyle Korver played his first game in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform Tuesday night against one of his former teams in Utah.

It was a bit of a bumpy start, as he shot 1-of-5 from the field and 0-of-2 from 3-point range for just two points in 18 minutes, as the Jazz won 100-92.

Korver was traded to Cleveland from the Atlanta Hawks last week. With Mike Dunleavy finally agreeing to report to Atlanta on Monday, the deal was made official and Korver joined the Cavs on the road.

The 35-year-old brought a 9.5 points-per-game average and 40.9 percent 3-point shooting to a team that's got the NBA's fifth-ranked offense and is already shooting threes at the second-most prolific and efficient rates in the league.

Before the game, LeBron James said his advice to Korver for fitting in with his new team was simple: "Shoot the ball every time you get it."

Things didn't quite work out that way on Tuesday, however, as the swarming Jazz defense continually took away clean looks from Cleveland's wings. Korver also didn't get a chance to practice with the Cavs before being thrown into the fire, so perhaps a stumbling block was to be expected.
