Heat's Hassan Whiteside: Out against Suns on Tuesday

Whiteside (eye) didn't travel with the Heat to Phoenix and won't play in Tuesday's game against the Suns.

Analysis:

Whiteside was poked in the right eye during Friday's matchup against the Celtics, and although the injury didn't initially appear to be severe, he'll now be forced to sit out a second straight game Tuesday. The Heat will be quite shorthanded in the frontcourt Tuesday, as Josh McRoberts (foot) and Justise Winslow (shoulder) didn't make the trip to Phoenix either. Whiteside could rejoin the Heat at some point during the remainder of their six-game road trip, but it seems unlikely that he'll be able to suit up for the second half of the back-to-back set Wednesday against the Kings. Willie Reed started at center Sunday in Whiteside's place and could get a few more turns with the top unit. Along with Reed, Udonis Haslem and James Johnson could also see some increased run at center.
