Clippers' Blake Griffin: Set for knee surgery

Griffin will undergo minor surgery on his right knee and is expected to return at some point in January, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Griffin had previously missed the Clippers' Dec. 10 game against the Pelicans with a sore right knee, but had subsequently played in each of the team's last four games, including Sunday's loss to the Wizards, during which he scored 26 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists in 38 minutes. However, it appears the health of his knee hasn't actually improved since sitting out, and he's now set to undergo what is being labeled as a "cleanup procedure. With Griffin perhaps out for multiple weeks, Marreese Speights, Brandon Bass and Wesley Johnson will likely see increased duties at power forward. Speights represents the most intriguing fantasy option of the lot, given his superior scoring ability to the other two.
