Warriors' JaVale McGee: Efficient in start Tuesday

McGee scored nine points (4-5 FG, 1-2 FT) along with five rebounds over 16 minutes in Tuesday's 113-109 win over the Pelicans.

Analysis:

McGee was the starting center du jour Tuesday with Zaza Pachulia (wrist) missing a third straight contest. The Warriors have used Anderson Varejao, Kevon Looney and now McGee to fill in for Pachulia, each playing roughly the same amount of minutes. The Warriors targeted McGee with several lob passes, mostly with success, a new dimension to an offense stocked with elite outside shooters. Pachulia is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday, which suggests his absence could extend a bit longer, perhaps into Thursday night's home game against the Knicks.
