Trail Blazers' Ed Davis: Moves to bench Monday

Davis moved to a bench role for Monday's 121-120 loss to the Clippers, finishing with seven points (0-1 FG, 7-8 FT), five rebounds and one steal across 14 minutes.

Analysis:

Despite starting at power forward and playing a season-high 34 minutes in Saturday's 118-111 loss to the Pacers, Davis ended up dropping to the bench Monday as coach Terry Stotts elected to deploy Al-Farouq Aminu in a starting role for the first time since returning from a calf injury. Considering that Aminu had started the first eight games of the season at power forward, it's expected that he'll stick with the top unit in the games to come, which should result in a downturn in playing time for Davis. The 27-year-old is averaging 14.5 minutes per game off the bench this season, compared to 25.5 minutes per game in his 11 starts.
