Report: Lamar Odom checks into rehab

More than a year after a near-fatal overdose in Las Vegas, former NBA player Lamar Odom is ready for help.

According to E! News, the former Los Angeles Lakers player admitted himself into rehab in San Diego.

"It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life," a source told E!. "He has not fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety."

Odom's prolonged divorce from wife Khloe Kardashian will be finalized on Saturday. People cited a source who said the timing of the divorce and holidays motivated Odom to make the decision to check in, where he will remain for 30 days as a precautionary measure.

The 37-year-old last appeared in an NBA game during the 2012-13 season as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. He played 14 seasons in the league with the Clippers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks.
