Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Likely to sit out Friday vs. Celtics

Carroll, who played 33 minutes in Thursday's 124-110 win over the Timberwolves, is expected to be held out Friday against the Celtics for rest purposes, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports.

Analysis:

Carroll was effective in a supporting role in the victory, offering 10 points (3-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals. He's now seen 33 minutes in both of his last two games, but in an effort to lighten his workload after he missed most of last season following arthroscopic knee surgery, Carroll has sat out one half of each of the Raptors' prior four back-to-back sets in 2016-17. Though he's scheduled to miss his fifth game of the campaign Friday, coach Dwane Casey suggested that the restriction could be lifted for the forward, which would certainly improve his rest-of-season outlook. Norman Powell is expected to start at small forward in Carroll's stead Friday.
