Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Ruled out for Wednesday

Smith's injury is now being listed as a left knee hyper-extension and he's been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup with the Knicks, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis:

Smith underwent an MRI Tuesday, which confirmed he's not dealing with a serious issue in his knee. However, he is dealing with a hyper-extension and could need some time off for rest, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was ultimately held out further than Wednesday's outing versus the Knicks. Smith should be considered day-to-day following Wednesday, with his next opportunity to see the court on Friday against the Heat. Look for Iman Shumpert and Mike Dunleavy to pick up some extra minutes in his absence.
