Mavericks' Andrew Bogut: Has bone bruise in knee, could miss two weeks

Bogut was diagnosed Tuesday with a minor bone bruise in his right knee and is expected to return in about two weeks, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.

Analysis:

Coach Rick Carlisle suggested that Bogut, who had suffered what was labeled as a hyperextended knee in Monday's loss to the Hornets, would miss at least three games, so this latest report helps put a more specific timeline on the length of the big man's absence. While it's not the most encouraging news for a Mavericks squad that's already without starting power forward Dirk Nowitzki (Achilles) for an indefinite time period, Bogut's recent MRI appears to have at least cleared him of a long-term setback. While Salah Mejri has started the last two games at center that Bogut had sat out and could receive those honors again, it's expected that Dwight Powell will be the main beneficiary. Powell finished with 15 points and seven rebounds over 32 minutes Monday after Bogut exited in the first quarter, while Mejri only picked up eight minutes on the evening.
