Rockets' Donatas Motiejunas: Looks set to hold out from Houston

Motiejunas, who had his four-year, $37 million offer sheet matched by the Rockets on Monday, declined to report to Houston for his physical Tuesday and appears to be holding out, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Motiejunas and his agent, B.J. Armstrong, have been unsatisfied with how the Rockets have handled negotiations since he became a restricted free agent this offseason, and though the Rockets stepped up to match the offer sheet Motiejunas signed with the Nets, it looks like the big man is trying to exert some more control over the situation. The Rockets will likely weigh their options with Motiejunas during the next few days, but if the 26-year-old remains reluctant to report to the team, Houston would presumably return him to restricted free agent status. In that scenario, the Nets wouldn't be able to extend him another offer sheet, and he'd have to wait for another team to submit a bid. Given Motiejunas' career-long back issues along with the lack of suitors who could likely meet his contract demands, it may end up being in his best financial interest to rejoin the Rockets.
