Report: Motiejunas skips physical with Rockets after they match Nets' offer

It seems Donatas Motiejunas wasn't eager to return to the Houston Rockets.

A day after the Rockets matched the offer sheet he signed with the Brooklyn Nets, Motiejunas failed to show up for his scheduled physical with the team, a source told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

The Rockets are "working through what happened" and "weighing options," which could include pulling the offer sheet and returning the injury-plagued big man to restricted free agency, Feigen reports.

The report was confirmed by sources of The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, who adds that Motiejunas does not plan to report to the Rockets, and that the team and his representatives are discussing next steps.

Motiejunas, if he is indeed relinquished to restricted free agency, would not be eligible to sign with the Nets for a year. He's already ineligible to be traded this season after going unsigned past the Nov. 23 deadline.

A failed physical last season has been at the root of the tepid market for the 26-year-old, whose February trade to the Detroit Pistons was scuppered due to concerns over a ruptured disk.
